I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker treating a diverse range of issues and populations, though specializing in adolescent and family therapy. I have been in private practice since 2002.
I work primarily with children and teens treating a variety of concerns including mood and attentional issues, defiance and conduct problems, social skills deficits, substance abuse, overindulgence & motivational issues, school failure & underperformance, and general family conflict. I am well versed in treating at-risk teens and young adults and those who have been resistant or challenging to engage in counseling. Due to my substantial history working in residential and emergency mental health, I feel I am never surprised or unprepared for any situation.
My approach is solution-focused and active rather than passive. I like to incorporate humor and creativity to create a positive atmosphere where individuals and families can more effectively solve problems, manage crises, and improve family structure. My focus is on educating and empowering parents while working individually with children and teens to help them understand their behavior and find healthier ways to cope with the stresses they are facing. When indicated, and with parental consent, I will collaborate with schools, teachers, physicians, and other allied professionals to provide continuity of care and achieve the best possible outcome.
I offer weekend and evening appointments to help meet the needs of clients. Phone consultations are welcomed and flexible hours are available to provide more immediate relief to new referrals.
